Fyrstu úrslitin á Norðurlandameistaramótinu lokin - First finals session at the Nordic Championships has finished
Úrslitakvöld fyrsta dags Norðurlandameistaramótsins kláraðist rétt í þessu, þar sem bæði opnir flokkar og paraflokkar sýndu glæsilegar frammistöður. Kvöldið einkenndist af miklum krafti, öflugum lokasprettum og metum sem féllu hvert af öðru.
Pernilla Lindberg frá Svíþjóð setti nýtt heimsmet í flokki S14 í 400m skriðsundi kvenna með tímanum 4:30,12 og stal senunni í upphafi kvöldsins með afar sannfærandi sundi.
Metasyrpan hélt áfram með frábærum sundum parasundmanna:
- Robin Hakansson (Svíþjóð), S9 - 400m skrið karla 4:45,53, sænskt met
- Ronja Hampf (Finnland), S11 - 50m bak kvenna 43,00, finnskt met
- Freja Kvist (Danmörk), S10 - 50m bak kvenna 35,69, danskt met
- Snævar Örn Kristmannsson (Ísland), S19 - 100m flug karla 59,61, Íslandsmet og Evrópumet
- Marius Danielsen (Danmörk), S19 - 100m flug karla 1:01,43, danskt met
- Victor Ludo Mieke Carnel (Noregur), SB12 - 100m bringa karla 1:23,44, norskt met
- Freja Kvist (Danmörk), S10 - 50m skrið kvenna 30,62, danskt met
Í opnum flokki var keppt í 200m baksundi, 200m flugsundi, 400m skriðsundi, 100m flugsundi, 200m bringusundi, 100m bringusundi og 50m skriðsundi, sem og 4x200m boðsundi karla og kvenna. Svaka spenna ríkti sérstaklega í kringum boðsundin þar sem mörg lið voru rétt á eftir hvort öðru og mikil keppni myndaðist því á milli liðanna.
Spennan heldur áfram á morgun þar sem morgunhlutinn byrjar kl 9:30 og úrslitin kl 17:00.

The evening finals of Day 1 at the Nordic Championships delivered outstanding performances in Laugardalslaug, with swimmers in both open and para categories producing fast times and several historic moments.
The session was highlighted by a world record, a European record, and numerous national records across the Nordic region.
Sweden’s Pernilla Lindberg delivered the performance of the night, setting a new World Record in the S14 class in the women’s 400m freestyle with a time of 4:30.12 - a commanding swim that electrified the venue early in the session.
The momentum continued throughout the evening, with para athletes producing a string of exceptional results:

The para athletes delivered some of the most memorable moments of the night, showing exceptional depth and competitiveness across all classifications.
The evening also included finals in the junior and senior categories of 200m Backstroke, 200m Butterfly, 400m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly, 200m Breaststroke, 100m Breaststroke, and 50m Freestyle, as well as the 4x200m freestyle relay for both men and women. Many relay teams came really close, making for tight and exciting racing.
A thrilling start to the championships, and the rest of the weekend promises even more fast swimming.
